I've been doing a little research on my new topic for my new essay. I am writing my next essay on stem cell research. Thus far, I really dont know a whole lot about stem cell research, just what I hear from my family and their conservative political views...so I think its about time I learn for myself. Not that their view is wrong, I just dont know anything really about it.

I have found a few articles on my topic. I need to start from the begining, asking myself the research questions I have come up with. Then, after I have the basics covered, I can proceed into some more detailed information on this topic. I have found some articles from a few medical magazines, wikipedia, and even some from political parties.I hope to find alot of information on such a hot topic in our country right now. I'm excited about this essay :D

The role of women in society has been one that, in the last few decades, has gone through many changes and growth. I, as an American female who has been recently married, have experienced my own share of changes and growth in my own role in society.

I never realized how a person's role in a community and society really does effect them. There are so many different expectations and pressures that are put upon a woman when they marry. I know personally, that I was not expecting for these pressures and expectations to effect me to the extent that they have. It seems that everyone in society has they're own ideas of a wife and mother and how a young woman should morph into this different position. It can be very difficult for a woman to try and reach what they believe to be the "correct" way to be a wife and mother. For me, I felt the pressure mostly from my family, and my husband's family. I have had to change my role in society before. In fact, I moved to another country just six months out of high school. That was a huge change of society and culture. That was very difficult for me, and I felt pressure from both Mexicans and Americans as to how a young, single american girl should behave and how they would fit into that society. I have also changed my role in society when I went from a student to an employee.

A person can go through depression, anxiety, and other psychological strains from changing their role in society. As for me, I had alot of anxiety, and still do experience that knowing that I have different expectations to meet now. Especially because my husband and I will be together in July and moving to San Diego to live on a military base. That is going to be a change in culture for me as well as chnaging my role in my community and society. I am going to have to adjust many things that I know of as my norm now, to accommodate that lifestyle.

I thought I experienced anxiety and role pressure before I got married, however, I have a feeling its going to get even more strenuous this summer. Lucky, I have a strong, caring and thoughtful husband who understands the pressures that I will be facing, and is encouraging of us facing them together.

I came across a story this week about the city of Tibet being in chaos. Apparently there have been riots being lead by buddist monks, causing at least 2 deaths. The city of Tibet has been under chinese rule for nearly two decades now. The followers of the exiled leader the dalai lama, started protests in 1959, and recently have began to attract regular tibetins, sick if the chinese rule. Cars and houses were torched, there were beatings, lootings, smashings and burnings. The violence put many peoples lives in danger and caused a reported 2 deaths.

The problem I have with this is, the violence. I understand the frusteration of a country who is under rule of another country and wants freedom. I understand the frusteration of a country with an amazingly high increase of migrants that do not belong there. However, the dalai lama and the buddist monks were peaceful people and wanted to harm to come to anyone. In fact, Tenzin Gyatso, the current dalai lama, is a noble peace prize winner. It is sad to see a country in tourmoil, especially when it caused problems like we have seen this week.

All of these happens are occurring at bad time for China also. China is currently preparing the the next Olympics and is trying to portray itself as a peaceful country, stable enough to hold an olympics. I guess we will see how the world reacts to these occurrences happening on Tibet.
